LEATHER STAMPING TIPS~BENCH AND LIGHTING

Over the years most of us have worked on a wide variety of stamping benches or places to stamp. Here are some ways to help you improve your work as a pro or just starting this art .:

*BENCH NEEDS TO BE SOLID
The bench should be solid enough to absorb the pounding without allowing the leather or the tools to start bouncing while the stamping is being done.

*CHAIR
The chair should be adjustable in height to allow the stamper to be as comfortable as possible. It is hard enough to do a first class job of stamping in a cramped and uncomfortable position.

*KEEP THE STAMPING SURFACE AND WORK AREA CLEAN.
It should be free of stains and clutter. This may sound very basic, but is very easy to begin piling up and getting in the way. .

*TOOLS NEED TO BE KEPT HANDY
Have a shelf near the surface of the bench at the back to place the tools on. This keeps them off the surface and out of the way without hindering their access.

*ALLOW ROOM ENOUGH FOR THE BENCH
It will enable you to move the project around without knocking things off the bench or spilling something on the work.

*ADEQUATE LIGHTING
Soften the shadow as much as possible by using light sources coming from different directions A light above and behind the stamper is useful.

Now you can create a workspace that is a joy to use!
